Mongolia President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh has recognized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for her humanitarian and community efforts in the East Asia country. Tuvshinjargal Gombo, director of the Church’s office in Mongolia, accepted the Polar Star medal in recognition of outstanding contributions to the development and progress of the country, the well-being of the community, and humanitarian efforts.

The award ceremony was held on February 28, 2025, at the Citizens’ Hall of Bayanzurkh District, where the chair of the district’s Citizens’ Representative Council, Mr. Mendsaikhan, presented the award.
Sister Gombo has been a dedicated and influential leader in the business, mining, foreign relations, interfaith and humanitarian sectors for many years. She became widely known to the public when she spoke on behalf of the Church during Pope Francis’ visit to Mongolia in September 2023.

Her work includes establishing relationships with local government agencies; promoting programs and activities; and conducting self-reliance, addiction recovery and English language programs. The Church has also been actively involved in ing humanitarian projects in education, health, child protection and disaster relief. Sister Gombo has also collaborated with Brigham Young University on English teaching methodology conferences, international law and religion symposiums, food preservation projects, ger insulation projects, and cultural performances on behalf of the Church.
